Sand dunes and havelis are the main attraction in Jaisalmer

Sand dunes are what perfectly describe Jaisalmer! The city lies amidst the Thar Desert and is named after the Rajput King- Maharawal Jaisal Singh. It attracts tourists for its majestic forts and havelis, architecture and designs, colourful festivals, and exotic desert safaris. The city is a perfect epitome of Rajput culture and tradition in Rajasthan.

People visiting Jaisalmer actually study its map so that they do not miss out even on the minute details and visit each attraction in Jaisalmer. To start with the Jaisalmer Fort is the largest fort in town. Draped in golden yellow sandstone the fort also gives the name of ‘Sonar Quila’ to Jaisalmer. It is known for the attractive exquisite havelis, three Jain temples and five interconnected palaces. It even has a gadget on the wall that was used for predicting the weather.

In addition to this, you can have a look at the Salim Singh Ki Haveli, Nathmalji Ki Haveli, and Patwon Ji Ki Haveli, which are some of the famous mansions owned by wealthy merchants. Most of these are decorated with peacock images, carvings in red and yellow sandstones and the perfect lightings after sunset make the view splendid and catchy.

As it is known as the desert city, camel and safari rides are a must for all tourists. The sunrise and sunsets on the camel offers a memorable experience. A luxurious camel safari and desert camp will definitely help travelers forget the same old schedule and sway with the desert culture.
